Sargasso provides IP and voice services in the UK and US both directly and through our subsidiary content providers and access ISPs. We currently maintain a traffic ratio of approximately 1:1 and support IPv4 and IPv6 natively throughout our networks.
Our network also carries a significant amount of VoIP traffic and the quality at which we deliver this traffic is paramount. Our requirements for interconnection with other VoIP providers may therefore be more stringent than otherwise.
Our policy is to accept peering requests from any network where there is not an operational risk in doing so and where that network is not and has not been a Sargasso or Comtec customer, or a customer of a Sargasso or Comtec customer or subsidiary for the previous 24 months. We do however reserve the right to decline any peering or to terminate any existing peering for any reason.
We are happy to peer at any IXP where we have a mutual presence. We do not require a formal peering agreement for public peering but will sign one, subject to negotiation, if you require one.
We will consider private peering for any peer where traffic volumes exceed 50Mbps normal daily peak or where a compelling business case exists (e.g. voice traffic). A peering agreement will need to be established and we require that you operate a 24/7 NOC.
We peer at route servers on a case-by-case basis. We recommend that peers do not rely on route server peering with us, because we can and do drop route server sessions at the first sign of trouble. Instead, please submit a request for a direct peering session.
